About the Project

The Goal: Build a Glass “House of Cards”

Arcadia was chosen by the architects for a total architectural and interior renovation of two office buildings on the world-famous Sunset Strip in Los Angeles.

The goal of the project was to design a glass box with sheets extending beyond the roof and on the sides of the building. This would give the structure the appearance of a “house of cards.”

The Challenge: Finding the Right Structural Glazing System

To achieve their vision, the architects wanted metal fins that would extend to the sky beyond the glass line. They also needed to add a thin structural glazing system to the existing steel structure, which had been stripped down to its bare minimum.

The Solution: Arcadia Ti Beams Combine Form with Function

Arcadia provided Ti Beams to attach to the steel building structure. The products offered a structural glazing system with the mullion depth and thinness that the architects required, along with the deep fins that characterized their design.
